Stepping off the plane in Cuxhaven, Germany, Clarissa De Ocampo felt a mix of excitement and anticipation. Her destination: the prestigious Lohmann Hatchery School 2025, an intensive week-long program hosted by the renowned Lohmann Breeders GMBH. This wasn’t just a trip; it was an incredible opportunity for her to dive deep into the cutting-edge world of poultry hatchery operations, and bring that knowledge directly back to Bounty’s Visayas Hatchery.
A Journey of Growth Within Bounty
Clarissa’s journey with Bounty is a testament to the company’s commitment to developing its talent. Her career progression has given her a deep and comprehensive understanding of hatchery operations, beginning in October 2014 as a Production Supervisor at the Gerona Hatchery. She was then promoted to Senior Hatchery Head of the same facility in May 2018, a role she held until January 2020, when she moved to lead the Concepcion Hatchery. Her dedicated work and expanding expertise culminated in her promotion to Production Manager in June 2021, where she now oversees the entire Visayas region.
Overseeing Visayas Hatchery Operations and Global Learning
As Production Manager for Visayas Hatchery Operations, Clarissa’s role is comprehensive and critical to maintaining Bounty’s high standards. She is responsible for overseeing the operations of five hatcheries in the Visayas region. Her primary objective is to ensure the consistent production of the required volume of Day-Old Chicks (DOCs) while upholding the highest quality standards. This involves meticulous oversight of technical operations, working closely with her dedicated technical team to guarantee that all machines and equipment are running in optimal condition. Furthermore, she is responsible for ensuring that all hatcheries in the region maintain full compliance with all relevant government regulations, including obtaining permits and fulfilling other essential requirements. This commitment to operational excellence and regulatory adherence is paramount to Bounty’s success.
The program itself was a truly global experience, bringing together 35 participants from 15 different countries. It was inspiring for Clarissa to learn alongside colleagues from diverse backgrounds, all united by a shared passion for poultry excellence. The curriculum was comprehensive, focusing on four essential pillars: genetics, incubation management, hatchery construction, and biosecurity. Each session was designed to significantly enhance her technical expertise, providing practical insights that she was eager to apply immediately to improve Bounty’s operations.
Bringing Advanced Knowledge Back to Bounty
One of Clarissa’s primary goals for attending was to benefit Bounty directly, and she can confidently say this advanced training has equipped her to do just that. Her understanding of incubation, in particular, has been profoundly strengthened. This knowledge is crucial for optimizing Bounty’s incubation processes, which directly leads to improved hatchery efficiency, stronger biosecurity measures, and ultimately, an increase in both the quality and quantity of their poultry production. By staying abreast of the latest industry advancements, Bounty ensures it maintains its leadership position in the market.
Bounty's Commitment to Professional Growth

Clarissa is deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been selected for the Lohmann Hatchery School. This selection truly reflects Bounty’s unwavering commitment to employee development and professional growth. It’s an honor for her to be part of a team that values continuous learning and invests in its people. This experience has not only boosted her confidence but also equipped her with advanced skills that she believes will allow her to make substantial contributions to the company’s continued success.
The week in Cuxhaven will forever remain a cherished memory for Clarissa, not just for the invaluable technical knowledge gained, but for the renewed sense of purpose and confidence it has instilled in her. She is excited to implement these learnings and contribute to making ‘Food Made Better’ for every Filipino family, right from Bounty’s Visayas Hatchery.
